Draft Daddy 2nd and 3rd round impressions:

5 great performances: "schrewd moves."

CLE rebounded taking Pitt DE Jabaal Sheard and North Carolina WR Greg Little in round 2. Nice haul.

HOU drafting Arizona DE Brooks Reed and Miami CB Brandon Harris. Loving their defense-heavy draft.

DEN taking Miami OL Orlando Franklin. Tough, violent player will impact early. LB Nate Irving is also an underrated player.

KC will start Florida State OC Rodney Hudson early and the reward of Georgia LB Justin Houston and Miami DE Allen Bailey far outweigh the risk.

NE overhauled their tailbacks with Cal's Shane Vereen and LSU's Stevan Ridley, got a QB for the future in Arkansas' Ryan Mallett, and a possible elite corner in Virginia's Ras-I Dowling. They won Friday night.

6 solid performances: "best under tough circumstances."

IND reloading their lines with Villanova OL Ben Ijalana and LSU DT Draft Nevis, to go with their 1st round pick of Anthony Castonzo. Trenches had been neglected and Polian fixed them.

WAS flat out stole Miami WR Leonard Hankerson in the 3rd round and still have 10 picks for day 3. Refreshing change in draft strategy for the Redskins.

GB considering how late in the round they pick, to get Kentucky WR Randall Cobb and Hawaii RB Alex Green was sweet. These players will contribute early.

MIA fantasy geeks take notice: Kansas State RB Daniel Thomas will be in a run heavy offense, behind an improved OL. Dolphins realize they don't need 2 high 1st round tailbacks.

NO building on their first round success with Illinois LB Martez Wilson and Louisville CB Johnny Patrick. 2 very solid picks who could have gone higher.

PIT drafting Florida OT Marcus Gilbert and Texas CB Curtis Brown: 2 smart steady picks that filled needs. Solid work by the Steelers.

5 somewhat questionable performances: "really?"

STL selecting Wisconsin TE Lance Kendricks and Boise State WR Austin Pettis; these are solid players but probably a round too early for each.

SD these are good players but questionable draft value. Michigan LB Jonas Mouton was a 3 round reach.

PHI Temple's Jaiquawn Jarrett is a tough SS and Utah State CB Curtis Marsh is a raw tweener. These picks are fine in rd 5. What is going on in Philly?

CIN Is TCU quarterback Andy Dalton ready to step in for Carson Palmer? Like this player but it seems like alot to ask.

DET Nothing against Mikel LeShoure, who is a tremendous prospect, but when are the Lions going to fix their O-Line?

Draft Daddy 1st round impressions:

5 great picks: "schrewd moves."

WAS trading down and getting Ryan Kerrigan the most productive sack artist in the draft (37 at Purdue).

HOU snagging top-10 talent J.J. Watt for their 3-4 at 11. He is a freak like Mario Williams; scary together.

NYG snapping up Prince Amukamara at 19, former sprinter has shut down potential and is great value.

NO killing the 1st round with Cam Jordan at 24 and Mark Ingram at 28. 2 steals, they won Thursday night.

CHI locking in Gabe Carimi at 29, instant starter; outstanding blocker and Outland Trophy winners usually pan out.

***

6 solid picks: "best under tough circumstances."

CAR sticking up top and getting the most marketable player in Cam Newton at 1. It sells tickets.

TEN hanging tough at 8 and taking Jake Locker and geting the player they love. It feels like a winner.

MIN grabbing Christian Ponder at 12, he's an ideal fit for their offense and mature with 2 masters degrees.

NE getting upside with Nate Solder at 17 and trading out at 28. Solder has all-pro potential if coached well.

NYJ and PIT drafting DL beasts Muhammad Wilkerson and Cameron Heyward at 30 and 31.
How were these guys still around?

***

5 somewhat questionable picks: "really?"

DAL buying into Tyron Smith at 9. He's a great athlete but raw; a right tackle with 16 college starts.

SD taking Corey Liuget at 19, Like him, but little college production and questionable fit into a 3-4 defense.

PHI reaching for Danny Watkins at 23. Tough starter but no upside and unlikely to be elite.

CLE trading down and then up for Phil Taylor. "Footgate" aside, don't see the value as an impact player.

KC taking the third wide receiver Jon Baldwin at 26. Good deep threat but is he a winner? Un-Pioli-like.
